MAGPIE FUNERAL. It's all happening.
In Northern Exposure, Ed Chigliak was played by Darren Burrows. After the show ended, Darren went on to work on several movies and TV shows as supporting cast. Now, almost 25 years later, Darren’s first leading role will be in the upcoming indie film MAGPIE FUNERAL.
In MAGPIE FUNERAL, Darren stars as Sy McMurphy, a TV station employee who dreams incessantly of Hollywood glory. Writer/director, Greg Green said, "I wrote the role with Darren specifically in mind after a great experience directing him a few years ago on TELL-TALE HEART."
Greg added, "I loved Northern Exposure because I connected with the characters, and I think most of you would say the same. For me, Ed’s appeal was that he loved everybody; in fact, through his love, he united his town. Darren brought that character to life with an irrepressible charisma, energy, and sense of humor, and it was for these qualities that I wrote the role of Sy for him specifically."

An avid birder, Sy meets Nancy and her young daughter Lisa on a bird watching expedition. A spark of interest is kindled between them but things go sideways quickly as Sy is involved in a traumatic accident. The challenges begin to pile up for Sy as he struggles to persist at a lifelong dream. MAGPIE FUNERAL borrows from Greg's life; it’s a story about believing in oneself and pursuing dreams with tenacity.
I’m posting here because I thought this would be interesting to fans of Darren and of Northern Exposure. Thanks for reading and a sincere thank you for your support.
